I generally mention this at the end of my posts, but this week I am putting it first; recently I joined the Amazon Associates program, what that means is, I get a little commission if you purchase something that I mention and link to in my blog.
Generally, I focus my writing on yoga, which I will continue to do, but the majority of the links I have shared are yoga books and meditation cushions.
To try something a bit different for the holiday season, I thought I’d put together a short and simple gift guide with some of my favorite things and ideas for others in your life. Here goes…
Take Care of YOU!
It’s important to take care of yourself first. You need to put your oxygen mask on before you can give to others, so in the spirit of giving and caring for ourselves, buy a little something for yourself and enjoy it all season long and make sure to create a detailed list of what you want and give it to your loved ones.
Maybe you need a good book and a comfy pair of sweats to throw on and curl up on the couch to sip tea and read, to relax from the hustle and bustle of the season.
If you want to pamper yourself, face masks, hair masks and nail polish are fun treats. Maybe a small perfume, to help you feel and smell glamorous, my daughter just bought me this Joe Malone perfume for my birthday.
Or possibly, something more practical, I have been loving my new cardigan sweater this season and am so happy with this rug we bought a few months back.
If you want to be super practical, throw in some supplies for the house like paper towels and dish soap and save yourself a trip to the store.
For stockings, I love all of the JVN products, but the curly hair products are my favorite.
Last winter when I was hunkering down, I bought myself a personalized paint by number with a photo of my pups. This would make a great gift for future you after the holidays or a family member… we’ll get to them next.

Here are some Ideas for Kids/Teens/Young adults – please chime in, leave a comment if there are better ideas or these are totally off.
My birthday gift to my daughter, who just moved into her first apartment in Bellingham, was this fancy serrated knife. Knives are a good gift for folks that like to cook, but make sure to add a coin when you wrap it.
– Gift cards – Starbucks, Amazon, Apple or Trader Joe’s (for those college kids or young adults living on their own now).
– Cash with a photo or something passed down (more on that below).
– Restaurant Gift cards – let them take themselves out to eat.
– My kids love perfumes, skin care and beauty items from places like Sephora or Glossier.
For Grown ups/Grandparents: If you exchange gifts with parents and grandparents, family photos, photo books, personalized puzzles are all great gifts, our grandparents love anything with a picture on it.
For those not wanting to add any more stuff to their lives, give experiences, plan an outing you can enjoy together, here are a few suggestions:
– Take your Mom on a trip to the museum
– Take your partner out to dinner, plan everything from beginning to end so they don’t have to think about a thing.
– Plan a spa trip with your sisters.
– Find a concert or show for you to take a loved one to.
Non-Gifts
– Make donations to charities in your family member’s or friend’s name.
–Adopt an animal, endangered species or farm animal.
– Falo bracelets allow the recipient to track an animal – my daughter has a shark.
ReGifts
If you have items in your home that are in good condition and could be passed down, pass them down! Older family members I am talking to you. We can’t take our stuff with us so why not pass it on for someone else to enjoy! Framed family photos, fancy serving dishes, mugs, or holiday decorations. Find items in your home that will brighten the home of your family members.
Gifts for Others
And don’t forget gifts for those that serve you year round, I try and give gift cards or extra cash to our milk delivery person, mail carriers and our house cleaner with a Christmas card, telling them we appreciate their service.
Last thing, for authors, like me, independent artists and writers, support local and small businesses and write reviews! I would be ever so grateful, if you read my book, please leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads. This would be the gift that would keep on giving.
Thank you for reading, hopefully this helps with your holiday shopping. Have a wonderful season and take care of yourself and others!
All the Love. ❤️
